BLUE eye-shadow and lashings of hairspray will fill the dressing rooms at Chorley Little Theatre next week.
Chorley Youth Theatre are going back to the decade taste forgot, and a time before the teenage cast was born, to stage Back To The 80s from Wednesday, July 17 to Saturday, July 20.
The nostalgic musical is family friendly, and follows an adult Corey, played by Andy Burke, as he looks back on his graduation year from William Ocean High School.
He relives the fun, heartbreak, loves and laughs leading up to the prom – and the efforts made in vying for the affections of girl-next-door Tiffany in competition with Mikey, the coolest guy in school.
Little Theatre chairman Ian Robinson said: “In the spirit of shows like High School Musical and Grease, the production is full of classic singalong 1980s tunes by the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Lionel Richie and more.
“Packed with references to the hit films of the decade and a Tetris-inspired set, this is a show for anyone who lived through the 1980s or wished they did.”
The cast of 12 to 18 year olds is led by Ciaran O’Brien as young Corey, Vicky Campbell as Tiffany and Alex Townson as Mikey, with 17-year-old director Hannah King taking to YouTube for inspiration from the era.
- Back To The 80s, Chorley Youth Theatre, Chorley Little Theatre, July 17 to 20, 7.30pm, plus 2.30pm Saturday matinee. Tickets cost £8 for adults, £5 for children, and a family ticket £21 from Malcolms Musicland 01257 264362 or www.chorleytheatre. com.
