Starting on the 12th May, 12 St Mary's College BTEC Sports students are beginning the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge.
This challenge is a gruelling 24 mile hike scaling Yorkshire’s highest peaks – Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen- y-Ghent.
The challenge is being attempted as part of their studies in BTEC Sport, which requires students to organise an event and to participate in outdoor pursuit. Many of the students are novice walkers and have therefore been improving their stamina and their navigation skills - recently they walked up Pendle Hill.
The event is aiming to raise £500 for the Every Action has Consequences campaign.
Howard Best, Head of Sport at St Mary’s said, “The students have worked really well as a team to plan and execute the delivery of this event. In deciding who we should raise money for it was obvious from the start that the event should raise money for the EAHC Campaign. Adam was much loved former student of SMC and Pat and Dave Rogers worked for many years at the College. We are highly confident of reaching our target and with the help of local sponsors, especially Intack Self Drive who have donated the use of a minibus, we are well on our way”.

Good luck to all involved!
