St Mary’s College Dance Academy has been selected to perform at the U Dance North West Regional Platform 2015 which takes place on Sunday 22th March at The Lowry. They received the exciting news that they were one of only 10 groups selected to perform at the show!
“The Selection Panel met this week and were pleased to see an excellent standard of choreography and performance from the region. We are delighted to inform you that your piece has been selected to be part of the programme at The Lowry!”
“The day will consist of fantastic workshops led by some of the North West’s best dance artists and choreographers, followed by a technical rehearsal and performance on the Quay’s Theatre stage.” The Lowry Youth Dance Partnership
The choreography, created by Sammy Allen with St Mary’s College Dance Academy, is called “Passers By” and explores all the people you come face to face with in everyday life and the reactions and interactions that occur.
Sammy said, “The students have worked really hard on their performance piece and are looking forward to the show. It is a fantastic opportunity for them to perform with other youth companies from across the region in such a recognised venue like The Lowry!”
Head of Dance, Elissa Best is delighted for the Dance Academy and said, “The dancers will be able to participate in a series of workshops led by outstanding national practitioners. To then perform “Passers By” at The Lowry is an opportunity of a lifetime. I am incredibly proud of the twelve dancers that represent St Mary’s College Dance Academy”.
