On Wednesday 2nd July St Mary’s College held their eighth annual Film Festival to celebrate the achievements of talented film and media students. A wide range of videos from short films to music videos to documentaries were screened to a packed and appreciative auditorium of students and parents.
The evening was ably hosted by two students: Ynez Taylor-Wood and Danny Grunshaw. They dressed to impress and seamlessly announced and presented awards with professionalism, bringing a real touch of Oscar night glamour to the event. Awards were given to reflect the wide range of skills and achievements film and media students develop during their A Level and BTEC courses at St Mary’s.
As well as showcasing the work of future media stars, a posse of famous film characters, most notably Star Wars were in attendance, ‘trooping’ to raise money for Derian House, adding a definite Hollywood ambience to the event.

Jenny McNulty, Head of Media & Film who organised the event, stated, “Once again, the quality and professionalism of our students work has increased and many have shown genuine talent for media production. The media and film students at St Mary’s work so hard on their coursework, it is a pleasure to reward them. I am so proud of them all!”
