With thousands of four and five year olds starting big school next week, Lesley Jones, editor of evecars.com is urging mums and dads to remember their children may be old enough for school, but are not big enough to come out of their child seats just yet.
"The law about children and car seats changes on September 18.
"All children must use a child seat up to their 12th birthday or when they reach 135cms height, whichever comes first.
"It makes sense that parents should add child seats to that pre-school shopping list of shoes, uniforms, coats and pencil cases," she said.
This new law will see almost 8.5 million children in child or booster seats.
