Motorists can now avoid traffic jams - by having pictures of busy roads sent directly to their mobile phone.
For the first time, video footage of tailbacks and queues on the motorway network will be beamed straight to a driver's handset.
The Highways Agency hopes that the 12-month trial will help cut congestion.
A hundred cameras will be used to test the system on 11 of the country's busiest roads including the M6, M60 and M61.
Drivers who register for the service will pay nothing for the first 14 days, then £4 a month or £1 for a one-off day.
