ST Mary’s Church, Mellor, is this year celebrating the diamond anniversary of its Rose Queen Festival.
To mark the milestone, invitations have gone out to all 60 former rose queens, and 18 rosebud queens, from down the years, to attend the crowning of this year’s queen, Matilda Holroyd.
The ceremony takes place on Saturday, June 11. Only two have not been contacted – Hannah Howard, the queen in 1962, and Jeannie Traves, who was Rosebud Queen in 1989.
If anyone can help trace Hannah and Jeannie in time, contact Rita Gorman 01254 812566.
