THREE dozen girls let their hair down back in 1965 – and won trophies for their efforts.
They were competing in the second annual hair styling contest staged by the Burnley branch of the National Hairdressers’ Federation.
It was held at Sion School, in Church Street, and the number of competitors was double that of the inaugural contest. The winner was Jeanette Feber, of Todmorden, while Burnley apprentice Louise Burt, 17, scored her fourth triumph of the year by winning the evening style class for apprentices.
Her model was Carolyn Stanworth, of Higham.
Second was Christine Hirst, and third Janice Lee, both of Nelson.
