THERE was standing room only for the opening performance of Mother Goose by St James Sunday School, Haslingden, for those who didn’t book seats, back in 1964.
Produced by the Sunday school teacher Mrs Olive Warburton, the traditional panto included various members of the church, including the Mothers’ Union.
Mother Goose was John Bradbury and also among the actors were Caroline Lewes as the goose, Brian Lees as the baron and Colin Valentine as the demon king.
Then there was Mrs M Holden as the good fairy, Christine Heys as the principal boy and Mrs A Riding as Jack.
Pianist was John Cryer, while Jack Waddington was stage manager.
