THE congregation of St Silas’ Church, Blackburn, looked back at more than 100 years of life in their parish.
For an exhibition of photographs from the past century and more was staged as part of an open day.
And visitors took the opportunity to remember events, people and organisations from previous decades, not only belonging to the church, but the church school, as well.
Here are a selection of pictures that were shown.
Picture one, is a class photograph from the 1960s — maybe you can spot yourself, or a friend or relative?
Picture two, dates back more than 80 years and shows a class photograph from St Silas’ primary School, in Clematis Street, in 1928.
Miss Henrietta, on the right, was class teacher, while Christina Simpson, left, was a student teacher.
Move on 11 years and picture three is the school’s football team, the year that war broke out.
On the back row, left to right, are Joe Eccles, Stanley Sharples, Clifford Holden, Roy Edmundson, Jack Flint, George McMullen and George Looms.
On the front are Frank Capstick, Wilson Morley, Keith Collow, John Pickup and Alan Margerison.
