A LOCAL charity would, no doubt, soon be cashing in on the generosity of this Blackburn pub and its regulars.
For a pile of pennies was about to be pushed over on the bar of this local hostelry.
It looks to have been built about two feet high, but how long did it take and how much was there?
From the lettering round the base, it could be that the pennies were collected for the benefit of Blackburn Orphanage.
The photograph was found in a loft in Franklin Road, Blackburn, and has been sent to Looking Back to see if anyone can tell us about it.
We think it was taken in the Mill Hill Hotel, Mill Hill in the 1960s.
Do you know the landlord and landlady, or any of the customers ?
If so get in touch.
