WE have two old school photos this week, one 60 years old and another which dates from more than 70 years ago.
The oldest dates from St Silas’ School in Blackburn, in 1938, the year before war came to Europe.
It has been sent to us by Clifford Bell, who is on the right on the back row, but he doesn’t remember any of the other children.
He knows it may be difficult but has urged readers to have a go at naming classmates.
Our other photo is from the old Cedar Street school, Blackburn, taken in the summer of 1951.
Margaret McNulty, nee Robinson, has provided as many names as she recollects and asks readers if they can fill in the gaps.
Among those on the back row are Mrs Bower, George Grimshaw, Ian Whittle, (?) Grenhalch, Fred (?) and Mr Littlewood.
Middle row includes Gillian Shackleton, David Tudor, John McTyler, Kenneth Shoreman and Pat Rostron.
Margaret is first left on the front row and then comes Jean Bamber, Doreen Ramsey, Barbara Sharples, Kathleen Best, Joyce Levatt, Dorothy Eddleston, Jean Riddioh, ?, Ann Leaver, Jean Emmett and Judy Gamble.
Sitting is Pat Bennison (right), but we don’t know the other two.
