A SUDDEN blizzard in the winter of 1967 caught many on the hop, but not these youngsters from Nelson.
While the half-hour snowstorm slowed everyone else down, it injected some speed for this group of friends from the Moorland Drive area of Marsden.
They lost no time in putting their sledges on the road for a spot of winter weather fun.
Elsewhere, the snow turned Burnley into a giant dodgem track, snarling up traffic for two miles through the town centre, while Christmas shoppers slithered on icy pavements.
It had caught the corporation cleansing and transport department on the hop, and no gritting wagons had been out to salt the roadways, while the £8,000 heating system, installed underneath the Centenary Way flyover had not been switched on.
