FORMER Burnley miner George Walsh has dug into his photo album to send in this snapshot of old colleagues setting off to Morecambe.

It was taken in the 1960s and shows miners from Hapton Valley enjoying their traditional day trip to the coast.

George, who’s on the left next to the bus driver, spent much of his working life underground for the coal board.

He worked at Towneley Colliery for 18 years and another 24 years at Hapton Valley, before being made redundant when the pit closed down in 1982.

Leaving school at 14 one Friday in 1939, he was down the pit three days later and recalls his first wage being 17s 4d.

Do you recognise any of the faces here?

Not including the two men by the bus door, the names we have from the left are: George, ?, Archie Lee, Bill Swainbank, Terry Heifen, Tommy Kendal, Lawrence Clarke who was known as Lol, Jack Smith, ?, Jimmy McKillop, Ben Rushton, ?, Joseph Thomson, ?, Jimmy Holden, ?
