OLD school photographs are a particular favourite among Looking Back readers.
They offer the chance to look back at old school mates and wonder where they are today, as well as hark back to the days of your own childhood.
You may not be able to do that with this picture, however, as it is almost 80 years old and the youngsters here would today be well into their 90s!
You could, though, recognise your own mum, or dad, auntie and uncle and see them as they were as schoolchildren in Padiham.
The photograph shows Standard VI in 1929-30 at St John the Baptist RC School and comes from Padiham Town Council Archive Group, which is building up a library of events and people in the town over the years.
The lads seem all wrapped up in heavy jackets, waistcoats and jumpers and if you look closely those sat on the front are also all wearing clogs. The girls on the other hand are sporting lighter smocks and summer dresses.
l The young pupils are all named, too. On the back row, left to right are: J Egan, S Hitchon, T Barker, M O’Neil, H Wiggan, J Begley, T Jones, J Grimshaw and, in the background the headmaster’s wife, Mrs Berry.
On the third row are: K Egan, J Rawcliffe, A Kelly, E Wilkinson, K Norton, V McGough, E Warren, K Bancroft, E Fullalove, with teacher Miss Crompton, stood just behind.
On the second row are L McGough, J Duxbury, M Askey, E Hope, W Lawless, M Hesketh, and A Doherty.
On the front are: R Pate, F Ormerod, T Butterworth and F Towers.
