A BLACKBURN florist has designed a patriotic window display to commemorate her grandfather who escaped from a prisoner of war camp in World War Two.
The display can be seen at Japonica, in Fleming Square, and the mixtures of wreathes and poppies supports the work of the Royal British Legion during the Remembrance weekend.
Owner Joanne Hoole, who also has a shop in Accrington Road, said the display was inspired by her grandfather Michael Redmond who escaped from a German prisoner of war camp before eventually being recaptured near the end of the war.
Mr Redmond was a regular soldier when he was captured on the Greek island of Heros. He returned to Blackburn after the war.
