WE are turning the clock back 40 years this week, to tell the story of two schools which became sub branches of their local banks.
It helped the pupils of Foulridge C of E primary and Rawtenstall's Cloughfold county primary schools put their maths lessons into practice.
It wasn't a game, the children were the cashiers, bank managers and customers.
These pictures show youngsters from Foulridge at a Monday morning banking lesson, back in 1967.
Both schools became sub branches of the Trustee Savings Banks and youngsters could deposit money by completing a paying-in slip and withdraw up to a £1 a time, by cheque.
They used the money from the account to settle accounts with the school, such as paying for school trips or buying books.
