THE year is 1947, when lads and lasses from East Lancashire often hot-footed it to Blackpool for dancing and fun.
This photograph shows a quartet of girls from Blackburn, taken in the resort that summer.
We only know one of them Lillian Martindale, who later became Mrs Lightfoot. She is on the right.
The picture has been sent to us by her son Tony, who now lives in Grimsby.
He said: "I would be interested to know if any of your readers can identify the other girls, and perhaps throw some light on their trips to Blackpool.
"My mother used to tell a story of cycling to Blackpool, from Blackburn, to dance in the Tower ballroom."
