HERE'S a ringing endorsement of life in Colne more than a century ago.
Our photograph, which must date from the late 1800s or early 1900s, shows the campanologists of Stanley Mills.
The six bell ringers appear to be all in their Sunday best, complete with waistcoats and fob watches, and are sporting bristling moustaches - perhaps they were to take part in a competition of some kind?
And even after all this time their names can still be made out on the back - maybe you recognise your grandfather, or another member of your family tree.
From the left they are named as Fred Ashworth, Hartley Duerden, Bob Foulds, Thomas Ashworth, J Ferguson, and Hartley Riley.
l Stanley Mills, which used to stand in Shaw Street, was owned by Robert Shaw, who lived at New Colne Hall. He also built a number of houses for mill workers on the north and south side of town after it opened around 1870.
