AFTER recently going through the biggest transformation in its 90-year history, Reidy’s Home of Music was thrilled to be awarded the high street retailer award.
Reidy’s, which was founded in 1922 by the current managing director Paul Nuttall’s grandfather Ed Reidy, boasts a massive wall of guitars – possibly the largest in the world.
It also has a state-of-the-art Yamaha Homeworld for the famous keyboards, a stage for in-store performances and a special Fender room for electric guitars.
Sheet music, orchestral music, drums of all types and a dedicated educational department are also what attracts customers from far and wide to the 6,500ft2 superstore, in Nab Lane.
The company relocated from its old Penny Street site in September and is now at the heart of Blackburn’s university campus and learning zone.
Mr Nuttall said: “It is fantastic to win this award, especially with the new shop opening. It was nice to have the team with us because without them, we could not have got there.”
Plans for the New Year include with a talent competition with King George’s Hall, and school visits.
Mr Nuttall said: “We are hoping to grow even more next year. We are up about 28 per cent from last year and hopefully that will just keep growing.”
