Nick Pope 7
Relatively untroubled but a solid display, with one fine save from Doucoure in the first half and a confident late claim.
Phil Bardsley 8
Really laying down a challenge to Lowton. Another committed display, defensively sound and an option going forward.
James Tarkowski 7
Great feet at one point in the first half and never unduly troubled by the physicality of Deeney.
Kevin Long 7
Early sliding tackle will have settled him into the game. Refused to be bullied by Deeney.
Stephen Ward 7
Enjoyed plenty of space down the left and found similar link-up with Arfield as he’d enjoyed with Brady.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson 8 (Man of the Match)
A man at the very top of his game at the moment. Could have scored his second goal for the club but for two brilliant Gomes saves, but provided a fifth assist of the season and showed his confidence with a wonderful piece of skill in the first-half.
Jack Cork 7
Captain for the day in the absence of Heaton and Mee and led the team well. As solid as ever in midfield.
Steven Defour 7
Crucial clearance from Janmaat in the second half as he threatened to get into a promising position.
Scott Arfield 8
Took his goal brilliantly after a shaky start and really grew into the game after that moment.
Jeff Hendrick 7
Lovely dummy to allow Gudmundsson’s cross to reach Arfield for the goal. Withdrawn early in the second half.
Chris Wood 6
Twice tested Gomes in the first half but not as influential after the break.
