Nick Pope 6
Saves he had to make were routine. Can’t have expected Mee to miss Hart’s clearance for first goal
Matt Lowton 7
Linked well with Brady in the first half when the Irishman went inside. So close to second half goal
James Tarkowski 7
Was winning his battle with Carroll until the striker became frustrated. Almost a shame we didn’t see more of it
Ben Mee 5
Mistakes are rare from Mee but he should have easily cleared Hart’s clearance for the goal, probably with his head
Stephen Ward 6
Tough afternoon against Antonio, going in both directions. Been superb recently, but below par here
Robbie Brady 6
Always looking for the ball and to get involved, excellent attitude even if things didn’t go for him, which they often didn’t
Jack Cork 7
A solid performance, but probably needed a bit more incision when looking to break down 10 men
Steven Defour 8 (Man of the Match)
Narrowly shades JBG for man of the match. Fitness levels compared to last year are incredible, almost leads the pressing game from midfield now. Quality on the ball, although couldn’t provide the ammunition to open West Ham up
Scott Arfield 6
Didn’t do much wrong but no surprise he was taken off at half-time when creativity was called for
Jeff Hendrick 5
Not at his best in the first half, obvious candidate to make way when Dyche went for 4-4-2
Chris Wood 7
Took his goal well. Could have won a penalty which came from one of several clever runs in behind
Subs
Johann Berg Gudmundsson for Arfield (45) 8
Made an impact from the bench. Hit the post with his own shot before setting up Wood’s goal
Sam Vokes for Hendrick (45) 6
Didn’t have the same impact as JBG, but didn’t have the service he needed either
Ashley Barnes for Ward (81)
Subs not used: Anders Lindegaard, Charlie Taylor, Kevin Long, Ashley Westwood
West Ham: Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Jose Fonte, Winston Reid, Aaron Cresswell, Michail Antonio, Cheikhou Kouyate, Manuel Lanzini (Arthur Masuaku 88), Marko Arnautovic (Pedro Obiang 45), Javier Hernandez (Diafra Sakho 75), Andy Carroll
Subs not used: Adrian, Angelo Ogbonna, Mark Noble, Andre Ayew
