SOUTH African coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has urged wantaway Benni McCarthy to leave Blackburn Rovers in January.
The 32-year-old striker has revealed that he is looking to move on in the new year after making just one Premier League start under Sam Allardyce this season.
“I cannot speak on his behalf, but I heard him say that in the January transfer window, he will decide on a new direction in his career,” said Parreira.
“Maybe he will go to a club where he can play because I don’t think a player like him would be happy to be in the reserves and not playing and coming to the national team out of shape.
“So, if he wants my advice I think he should look for a club where he can play.”
McCarthy made his first international appearance since February this year when he featured in South Africa’s 0-0 draw with Japan in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
