ACCRINGTON Stanley's teenage goalkeeper Andrew Dawber enjoyed a debut to remember but a string of saves were not enough to stop his side from being dumped out of the Johnstones Paint Trophy.
The 17-year-old rookie produced a composed display between the sticks to suggest he has a bright future in the game but could do little to prevent a Morecambe goal in each half ending Stanley's interest in the competition at the first hurdle.
Goals from Jack Redshaw and Kevin Ellison earned the visitors a deserved victory as a much-changed Stanley side struggled to hurt Morecambe's defence, with a lack of clear cut chances throughout.
The JPT will be low down on boss Paul Cook's list of priorities though as he looks for his side to continue their impressive start to the League Two campaign.
