ROSSENDALE Raptors Basketball Club has written a new chapter in to its exciting history after it became the first community club in Lancashire to be represented at a senior level in the national league.
The club has been invited to join the England Basketball National League which is an exciting opportunity for both the team and local fans.
It will be big step up in standard both for the players and the club but the Rossendale Raptors feel ready for the challenge.
Club Chairman Ken Masser said, “We have worked hard during pre-season to make sure we are prepared for the challenge the National League and have received backing from the Borough Council and Rossendale Leisure Trust.
“There is a big financial commitment in competing in the league and we’re very grateful to have the support of national property agent Sanderson Weatherall who are sponsoring the team.
“It will be good to welcome teams from all over the north, especially the teams from Newcastle, Durham, Bradford, Hull and Liverpool who may have never even heard of Rossendale.”
The Raptors begin their new campaign when the entertain last season’s league champions Huddersfield heat at Haslingden Sports Centre in a friendly fixture on Saturday at 6pm.
