DEFENDER David Edgar is hoping to play a bigger role for Burnley next season after impressing in his first start in eight months on Saturday.
"I loved it. I think if anyone was watching me you could see a smile on my face,” he said.
"I just loved being out there, especially the football we played, it was really enjoyable and hopefully enjoyable to watch.
“Hopefully I’ve put some food for thought into the gaffer’s head for over the summer and we’ll see what happens next season.
“We’ve got some meetings this week to do a general sum-up of the season so hopefully mine’s positive and we go from there.”
And Edgar, who has played only 13 times since being signed by former manager Owen Coyle from Newcastle United two years ago, is hoping to use his participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup with Canada in June to stay on top of his game.
“I’ve got a tournament for Canada so it’s not going to be a leisurely summer, I’m going to be playing football and staying fit,” said the 23-year-old, who will hope to be involved in games against host nation the USA, Guadeloupe and Panama next month.
“I’ll go home and see some family and enjoy playing for my country.”
