BURNLEY will probably have to wait until next week to find out whether Newcastle will allow Fraser Forster to sign on a season-long loan, despite Brian Laws holding productive talks with the goalkeeper on Wednesday night.
The Clarets have agreed a deal in principle and had been hoping to get the loan sorted in time for the highly-rated 22-year-old to travel to Singapore.
Burnley have yet to officially confirm that Forster is their target but, speaking about the keeper in question, Laws said: “Everything has been agreed, but there is a hiccup at his parent club that needs to be resolved and we hope that can happen soon."
It is understood that Newcastle are unlikely to sign off the deal until next week at the earliest, and the north east club may yet decide to retain Forster at least until their friendly at Norwich on July 24.
Forster was on loan at Norwich last season, impressing many as the Canaries topped League One, and the friendly was arranged as part of that deal.
Newcastle had previously indicated Forster could yet be part of their plans this season as back-up to first choice keeper Steve Harper.
It seems likely, though, that either Forster or fellow back-up stopper Tim Krul will be loaned out.
Norwich had been keen to take Forster on loan again this season but instead signed John Ruddy from Everton after deciding they could wait no longer. Leeds have also been linked.
