David Nugent has completed his protracted loan move back to Turf Moor to give the Clarets' survival fight another major boost.
The striker will spend the rest of the season with Burnley after an agreement was reached with Portsmouth.
Nugent, 24, is now free to concentrate his efforts on building on a promising start to his Clarets' career which has seen him score three times so far.
The former Preston forward had been in a state of limbo in recent days, splitting his time between Burnley and Pompey as he waited for his future to be determined.
But Nugent had never made any secret of his desire to stay at Burnley and was immediately confirmed as one of Brian Laws' top targets when he took over as manager.
Laws hopes to complete another deal before the transfer window closes.
