John Eustace has accepted The FA's charge of misconduct but has requested a personal hearing which will delay a potential touchline ban.

The Blackburn Rovers head coach was charged by the authorities earlier this week after he was sent off against Coventry City last weekend. Eustace was involved in an altercation with Kasey Palmer and sent to watch the rest of the game in the stands.

Eustace was given until Friday afternoon to respond to the charge, which he has admitted. However, he has requested a personal hearing which is unlikely to be arranged before Saturday's final match. Any touchline ban would therefore be applied to next season.

In all likelihood, the head coach will be allowed to serve on the touchline for Rovers' final Championship match of the season against Leicester City on Saturday. Rovers need a point to secure their place in the Championship.

Eustace felt he was not overly aggressive and was surprised at the red card. He revealed there were plans in place whether he was on the touchline or not.

A club statement said: "Blackburn Rovers can confirm that John Eustace has admitted an FA disciplinary charge relating to an incident during last weekend’s home game against Coventry City.

"However, the Rovers head coach has requested a Personal Hearing with an independent Regulatory Commission, which the club have been informed would likely be held following the conclusion of the 2023-24 Championship campaign.

"On that basis, the club have been advised that John Eustace should therefore be able to carry out his normal managerial duties and be on the touchline for tomorrow’s final day fixture away to Leicester City."
