Burnley return to Championship action after the World Cup break with a trip to the capital to take on QPR.

The Clarets haven’t played since their 3-0 win against fierce rivals Blackburn at Turf Moor nearly a month ago.

Vincent Kompany’s men currently sit at the top of the table, having lost just two league matches since the start of the campaign.

Team news

Scott Twine, Ashley Westwood and Darko Churlinov are all in contention for Sunday’s game, having trained during the break.

Top-scorer Jay Rodriguez could also be involved after missing the last three matches before the World Cup.

Connor Roberts is available after returning from his international duties with Wales, who were knocked out in the group stage.

Anass Zaroury is still in Qatar with the Morocco squad, who face Portugal in the quarter-final this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the hosts welcome back several injured players including Tyler Roberts, Leon Balogun, Luke Amos and Stefan Johansen.

Opposition lowdown

QPR are searching for a new manager after Michael Beale left to join Rangers during the World Cup break.

The Hoops are currently sixth in the Championship table – just two points behind fourth-place Watford at this stage.

The London outfit were beaten 2-0 by Coventry in their last match before the break, with Viktok Gyokeres bagging a brace.

Head-to-head

Burnley have faced QPR 41 times in their history, with a record of 22 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats.

The Clarets recorded a 1-0 victory when the sides last met back in May 2016, with Sam Vokes getting the decisive goal. The result saw them clinch promotion back to the Premier League under Sean Dyche.

The points were shared several months prior following a goalless draw at Loftus Road, with Scott Arfield making a vital goal line clearance in stoppage time.
