A ‘TRULY memorable’ evening was enjoyed by hundreds as the Blackburn Rovers Disabled Supporters’ Club enjoyed their Christmas Party.

More than 300 people attended the celebrations, filling the Premier Suite at Ewood Park to capacity on Tuesday night.

The entire first team squad, all the under-21 players and the under-18s team all attended the party.

Also present at the sell out event were the new management team headed by Paul Lambert, with assistants and coaches Alan Irvine, Rob Kelly and Laurence Batty.

The first team were present for the first hour of the party and signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans.

Club mascot Rover the Dog also entertained younger fans at the event. Among the most popular players for those wanting selfies with their Rovers’ idols were Corry Evans, Hope Akpan, Nathan Delfouneso and club captain Grant Hanley.

A Rovers spokesman, said: “The Christmas party is one of the biggest events of the club’s social calendar and this year was no exception.

“Being relatively new to the club, Paul Lambert saw this as an ideal opportunity to meet dozens of supporters.

“The playing staff were glad to attend and join in the fun.”

Fans and players enjoyed a hot pot supper and a raffle before the music was cranked up for a disco.

The Blackburn Rovers Disabled Supporters’ Club relaunched earlier this year.

The club originally formed 23 years ago.

As well as the Christmas party the club hosts an end-of-season awards night and puts on further events including activities not related to football.
