MORTEN Gamst Pedersen could potentially play his final game at Ewood Park tonight after being earmarked to feature in Blackburn Rovers’ under 21 match against Reading.
Eric Kinder’s side host the Royals at 7pm and Pedersen has been initially pencilled in to play after not featuring in Friday’s first team defeat at Doncaster Rovers.
The Norwegian has been allowed to find a new club after falling down the pecking order at Rovers.
His agent Rune Hauge is understood to have been holding discussions with Danish side FC Copenhagen and other clubs with a view to a potential deal, with Pedersen then set to weigh up his options for the future.
FC Copenhagen are seeking a left winger and have already qualified for the group stage of the Champions League, which is likely to be a temptation for Pedersen.
The 31-year-old has not completely ruled out staying with Blackburn Rovers for the final year of his contract but there remains a possibility that tonight’s under 21 match could be his final game at Ewood Park, after nine years with the club.
The squad for tonight’s fixture has not yet been confirmed but Bradley Orr, Adam Henley and Fabio Nunes all featured last week as the under 21s started their season with a 1-0 loss at West Bromwich Albion.
The team will once again play the majority of their home matches at Leigh Sports Village, but Barclays Under 21 Premier League rules state that clubs must play three fixtures at Ewood Park during the season.
