RE the Pendle returning officer calling for tighter controls to stop electoral fraud (LT, March 19), electoral fraud was rife in Victorian Britain and the different Acts of Parliament were brought in to combat such fraud.
Election fraud in Britain is nothing new, but the levels reported today are lower that at many times in our past.
