AN INTERNATIONAL transport company says it could be interested in buying Rossendale Transport.
Last month, the Lancashire Telegraph was told by members of Rossendale Council that Rossendale Transport was not for sale.
But Rossendale Council is now understood to be considering selling off the service, which employs 250 people.
A council spokesman said: "Clearly councillors will want to ensure that they are making the best use of council assets and will want to consider the interests of council taxpayers, passengers and transport staff."
A spokesman for Transdev, which runs Lancashire United services, told the Lancashire Telegraph: “We’ve contacted neither the council nor the bus company about a sale.”
The company said its involvement in talks at the moment was mere speculation but it will have a look at the details of the business when the sale process starts.
