A NINE-year-old girl has been thanked by Accrington Stanley after she donated the contents of her piggy bank to their survival fund.
At Accrington Stanley’s home game against Darlington on Friday, the club showed their appreciation for the £8 donation by inviting Hannah Holland and her parents along as VIP guests.
The Pendle Primary pupil was delighted and showed up wearing a T. shirt with the slogan: ‘I emptied my piggy bank to save Stanley; what will you do?’ Her donation became part of a total £75,000 raised by the club so far.
The football-mad Clitheroe youngster lives in Thorn Street with her parents Katie Blezard and Danny Holland, and her six brothers and sisters.
Hannah’s mum said the youngster was determined to help Stanley after reading about their tax problems in the Lancashire Telegraph.
Accrington Stanley chief executive Rob Heys said: “It is really humbling.”
