EARBY library could reopen in the nearby New Road Community Centre.
The Lancashire County Council cabinet will consider a report on Thursday about bringing it back into use after its closure by the previous Labour administration.
Officers have recommended that the existing large building is in poor condition and not well-suited to a modern library service.
Their report also asks permission to carry out a feasibility study to consider the costs and other implications of establishing the service in the New Road Community Centre, which the county council also owns.
Cllr Peter Buckley, cabinet member cultural services, said: “We want to reopen a library service in Earby, however the building where it had been based is not in good condition and isn’t well-suited to operating a modern library service.
“Cabinet is therefore being asked to give the go-ahead for a feasibility study to look at the costs of reopening the library in the nearby community centre, so that we have all the information we need before making the final decision.”
