A SCHOOL made maths come alive with a regional contest.
The second annual Maths Madness competition took place at Norden High School with teams from Rishton Methodist, St Peter and St Paul’s, St Bartholomew’s and St John’s primary schools.
The Rishton schools competed against each other in six nail-biting rounds to score as many points as possible to clinch the trophy.
Greg Stewart, teacher of maths at Norden High said: “The standard of the competition was very high and all the pupils entered showed tremendous team spirit.”
Mr Stewart, the chief question master, was ably assisted by Year 10 pupils from Norden who helped mark papers and add up the scores.
Eventually, after the scores were submitted from each round, the overall winning team was announced as Jack Tomlinson, Megan Westerell, Luke Livesey and Izaak Liversage from St Bartholomew’s CE Primary school.
All participating pupils received a certificate to acknowledge their contribution.
