THE leader of Darwen Town Council has questioned the future of the town hall, if policing changes are brought in.
Currently Darwen’s Neighbourhood Policing Team works out of offices in the town hall, and a separate police station is in Union Street.
Now police are looking at scrapping the front counter at the station which is used by the public.
Coun Steve Duncan said: “To me, this raises questions over the viability of the town hall.
“What happens to it if the police move out? And what happens to all the links there like the radio scheme?”
The consultation was launched on July 1 and will run for 12 weeks, after which final decisions will be taken.
