A TEENAGER went round to a house and assaulted two people after he was said to have heard rumours people had been insulting his family, a court heard.
Darryl Grant Dyson, 18, had had a ‘dysfunctional’ upbringing, had been the victim of racial slurs and had ‘taken some stick’ from his peers as he wanted to be a hairdresser. He had made attempts on his life recently.
Burnley magistrates were told how Dyson assaulted a man and a woman, after kicking the door in.
The defendant, of Spencer Street, Burnley, admitted two counts of assault by beating, one of damage and one of using violence to secure entry to premises, on October 5.
Dyson, who has just become a dad after his ex-girlfriend gave birth, was given a 12-month community order, with supervision and the Thinking Skills programme. He must pay £100 compensation and £40 costs.
Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said Dyson turned up at a house in Ford Street, Burnley, just before 10pm, kicked the door in and proceeded to hit the man. In the melee, the woman was accidentally pushed.
Miss Crane said Dyson was arrested, interviewed and made no comment. When charged, Dyson, who had more than 30 offences on his record, apologised.
Lee Hammond, for Dyson, said he had tried to take his life in the past few months and was on medication for depression. From an early age, he had witnessed his heroin addict mother taking drugs, he had been in care for many years and his upbringing had been dysfunctional.
