FORMER Match of the Day presenter Jimmy Hill has died at the age of 87.
Mr Hill had been suffering with Alzheimer's Disease having being diagnosed with ti in 2008.
In a statement, Mr Hill's agent, Jane Morgan, said: "It is with great sadness that Bryony Hill and the children of Jimmy Hill have announced that Jimmy passed away peacefully today aged 87 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Bryony was beside him."
Mr Hill played as a striker for Fulham in the 1950s, managed Coventry in the 1960s, and then went on to enjoy a career as a distinguished broadcaster.
As chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, he also led the campaign for the scrapping of maximum wages for professional footballers.
