AN Islamic school has been told it 'requires improvement' after less than half of children in reception achieved a good level of development.
Rawdhatul Uloom Islamic Primary School in Blackburn has dropped a grade since its last Ofsted inspection three years ago.
The independent school, which is run by the Siddiqiyya Education Trust, charges annual fees of £1,140 and has 143 pupils on its roll.
Lead inspector Mark Quinn said senior leaders do not have an effective procedure to plan for school improvement, they do not systematically check the quality of teaching and learning or make recommendations for improvement.
He said pupils in year two at the Whalley Old Road school ‘make slow progress because the quality of teaching and learning is not strong enough’.
He said: “Teachers do not consistently provide challenging work for the most able pupils."
