A LANE in Clitheroe is home to East Lancashire’s most expensive houses, according to latest figures from the Land Registry.

Since all house prices were published openly in 1995, there have been four transactions in Birdy Brow in Chaigley, Clitheroe, for an average £771,462.

In Read, the top-ranking street was Hammond Drive with seven transactions worth an average £687,182.

In Rossendale, the top-ranking street was Dearden Heights, Haslingden Old Road, with three transactions worth an average £711,063.

In Blackburn, Mire Ash Brow, Mellor, comes out on top, with four transactions worth an average £640,981.

In the Darwen area, Rock Lane, Tockholes, has seen four transactions worth an average £504,250.

In Hyndburn, Great Harwood’s Chapel Close comes top with three transactions worth an average £685,967.

In Pendle, Churchill Road, Nelson, had three transactions worth an average £653,033.

The figures, from house price website mouseprice.com, uses Land Registry data and the Automated Valuation Model to calculate valuations, as price increases over time can distort rankings.

On Thursday, a report from Lloyds TSB said there are at least 185 streets in England and Wales where the average price of a home is at least £1million or more.
