THOUSANDS of people packed into Blackburn town centre last night as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
A spectacular firework display followed children’s TV character Peppa Pig doing the honours in King William Street.
The event also launched late night Christmas shopping in the town.
Children were delighted with Peppa’s antics as she did a special dance for her Blackburn fans.
Families waving Peppa Pig balloons and banners who had crowded outside Blackburn Town Hall to see the children’s television star, greeted her with deafening cheers.
Waiting guests were then treated to a host of acts from other guest appearances including Preston four-piece boy band Juice.
Following performances from singers, Peppa then returned to the stage amid cheers to switch on Blackburn’s Christmas lights before a fantastic fireworks display got under way.
