500 boilers have stopped working as a result of yesterday's electricity surge in Blackburn.
The electricity surge at 10am affected hundreds of homes and businesses in the town centre and Whalley Range area.
Elecricity North West is contacting affected residents and will carry out repairs on a priority basis.
A rest centre has been set up at Bank Top Community Centre in Oakenhurst Road for those affected, which will open at 7pm.
It will be manned by Council and Care Trust staff.
Tonight is expected to see mild weather in Blackburn.
