BURNLEY'S run of four wins in five games was not enough to win Chris Waddle his first Nationwide Manager of the Month award in January.

Former England manager Graham Taylor took the Second Division honours for the second time this season for guiding Watford back to the top of the league.

Taylor's side are now 19 points clear of the play-offs after winning three of their four league games last month.

Waddle's men also won three league games and one in the Auto Windscreens Shield but lost to Gillingham and Bristol Rovers.

Crewe manager Dario Gradi won the First Division award and Sammy McIlroy took the honours in the Third Division.

THE winners of Burnley's Auto Windscreens Shield northern semi-final against Preston North End a week on Tuesday are expected to meet Grimsby Town over two legs for the right to play at Wembley in the final.

The Mariners face Blackpool in their semi-final when Alan Buckley's in-form side will start as favourites after putting together an excellent run to move into the Second Division play-off zone.

Peter Noble takes charge of the Burnley side which will be captained by Derek Scott and will include ex-Turf Moor men Ian Britton, Marshall Burke, Jimmy Mullen, Eddie Cliff and Harry Wilson.

The Wednesday squad, with guests, includes Tony Currrie, Emlyn Hughes, Ronnie Glavin, Lawrie Madden, Mel Sterland and Imrie Varadi.
