The lake at Queens Park in Blackburn has been enjoyed by residents for many years.

But in this photo from 1972, something was clearly amiss. For the muddy mess you can see in the foreground was the bed of the lake which had been drained.

In the background you can see two of the tower blocks of the Queens Park flats.

We're not quite sure why the lake had 'disappeared'. Perhaps it had been drained for cleaning or repair.

If you can shed some light on it, do let us know.
