Pupils from an evening Islamic school handed out meals to staff at the Royal Blackburn Hospital during Ramadan.
Children from the Unity Madrassah provided iftar meals for 60 staff members at the hospital's accident and emergency department.
The donation aimed to recognise the ‘tireless’ efforts of the hospital's hardworking staff.
The madrassah is based on Preston New Road and provides a range of learning, educational and sports provision for children and young people.
Dr Jawad Shah, from the Unity Madrassah, said the children wanted to express their gratitude towards frontline workers.
He said: “They wanted to emphasise the importance of standing together, particularly during challenging times, where services are stretched.
“The staff at Blackburn Hospital A&E were deeply appreciative of the gesture, noting the significance of community solidarity in bolstering their spirits as they continue to provide essential services.
“The pupils' act of kindness serves as a reminder of the power of unity and compassion in bringing communities together, transcending differences to support one another in times of need.
“Unity Madrassah is keen to continue to expand their community-based initiatives and welcomes contact from any organisations that may benefit.”
