Cinema bosses and an East Lancs foodbank have teamed up for a special screening which is sure to get supporters rocking in the aisles.

Bosses at Reel Cinema in Blackburn have partnered with Blackburn Foodbank for a sing-a-long screening of the 1978 classic Grease.

For any budding John Travoltas or Olivia Newton Johns wanting to enjoy the 1950s-themed fun, it couldn’t be easier.

Just take along seven tins of soup to the screening, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 14, from 5pm.

A Blackburn Foodbank spokesperson said: “We’re thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration between Blackburn Foodbank and Reel Cinema.

“Join us for a special screening of the classic musical Grease, where you can sing along to all your favourite tunes.

“Entry is simple. Just bring along seven tins of soup per person as your ticket to this unforgettable event.

"Your generous donation will go directly towards supporting Blackburn Foodbank’s mission to fight hunger in our community.

“Hurry, tickets are limited! Book now to secure your spot and avoid disappointment. To reserve your seats, simply e-mail us at info@blackburn.foodbank.org.uk.

“Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to enjoy a classic film while making a difference in the lives of those in need. Let’s come together for an evening of fun, music, and generosity.”

Meanwhile, the foodbank, based in Oakenhurst Road, is reminding would-be supporters they still have time to back their Lent appeal.

Items including tinned tomatoes, tinned custard, cereals, jam and shampoo are all on the organisation’s wish list for the period.

Charity officials have set up an Amazon wish list online which donors can use as part of their Give For Lent drive.
