In recent weeks East Lancashire has certainly had its fair share of heavy rain.

And we are constantly hearing stories about how climate change means that will will have to get used to more incidents of extreme weather.

Throughout the Sixties, East Lancashire would be hit by major downpours which would lead to extensive flooding.

These events were short lived but brought with them plenty of disruption when they occurred.
