Costco is looking to open 14 new stores across the UK over the next two years.

According to The Sun, Costco has already selected sites across the UK where it would like to open these new stores.

They are seeking 6-12 acre sites which will enable them to construct 150,000 sq ft buildings with up to 650 parking spaces and allow them the ability to develop a petrol and electric vehicle charging station.

The wholesale retail company is working with property development company Chase Commercial to find and convert the new sites according to The Sun.

However, all the purchases would be self-funded.

Director at Chase Commercial, Justin Parker, speaking to The Sun said: "We are really pleased to be partnered with Costco to deliver further warehouse clubs for them throughout the UK."

According to The Sun, these are the 14 sites where Costco would like to open its new stores:

  • Chelmsford
  • Colchester
  • Exeter
  • Oxford

  • Maidstone
  • Brighton
  • Portsmouth
  • Bournemouth/Poole

The American wholesaler is already set to open a new store in Gloucester - Centric Park on Eastern Avenue, just off the M5 motorway.

Costco currently has 29 stores in the UK - including in Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow - and the new sites planned would take the total up to 44.
